My son and a friend answered a ad placed by Mario to become a independent contractor for REO. They were promised gas reimbursements, money for each job completed and submitted and we're told by Mario that he would give them a cash advance after two weeks into working for him because they would not be paid until 30 days after the job was complete.
I read on the REO clean website that Mario sent my son that they hired only people with professional equipment. I was skeptical from the beginning because my son was using my small riding mower and other equipment from my garage. Far from professional.
Needless to say my unprofessional equipment did not last long in the jungle of yards that my son was sent to clean up nor did my son ever receive a cash advance nor has he gotten paid. I feel as if my son has been scammed.
I've had two discussions with Mario. He is from somewhere in Illinois. The first one was that they would get paid after 30 days, the latest discussion was extended to 30 days after they quit.
Has anyone else had a situation similar to this. I'm a very upset mother. My son and his friend worked very hard for this man and he has not treated them with respect. He will not answer their phone calls or text. I have been able to reach him perhaps because it was a unrecognizable phone number.
